Degree & Black Belt Promotion
Degree & Black Belt Breaking and Promotion will be held at the Kempo Retreat. Please look at the events and see if you can make it to watch and congratulate the new ranks. All students and their immediate families are invited. Board and brick breaking is held at the end of black belt testing at 3 pm at the Pavilion on Friday, July 20th. The Promotion Ceremony will be at 8 pm on Saturday, July 21st.

Please think about coming to the Professorship ceremony, it is a very rare event. Students, please come dressed in your uniform to be a part of the belt ceremony. Note: As part of the belt ceremony, members will be allowed to handle the new degree belts.

We would like as much participation as possible. Please get in touch with Mr. Petersen or Instructor Karen to find out about coming to events. We will have social time at the Sly Lodge to celebrate our new Degree and Black Belts after the promotion.

Note: While all family members are welcome and encouraged to attend the social time after, this event is BYOB.

Kempo Core Classes
With the new year, just a reminder that we still have our additional class offerings for anyone looking to add to their fitness routine. Kempo Core, an intense, 30-minute class designed to strengthen the foundational muscles of the abs, back, and glutes, is every Wednesday at 5:45. Classes are $3. Classes are taught by Instructor Kathi. Please feel free to contact her with any questions at 540 - 250 - 5988, or

Help Us Grow
We are always looking for ways to get out in front of new groups of people. If you like the program and could help, it would be most appreciated. Some of the things we are trying are demo classes for the John Newman Academy and a self-defense class with Montgomery County Parks and Rec. We would love to get in front of young people any chance we can get. Our target group is children 6 - 10 years old, we can also do classes for older students and adults groups. If you have a connection at any of the local organizations, like private and church schools, boy and girls scouts, or any other group we would love for you to make the introduction. Be sure to mention that we do most of these intro classes for free.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please see Mr. Petersen. Thanks!
